Ms. Grace Shoemaker was admitted to Allegany Health Nursing and Rehab from another skilled nursing facility. Grace was in an acute care hospital prior to that with Covid-19. Grace lived at home with family prior to hospitalization. She has now decided that it is time for long term care placement.
Grace has been working diligently with Occupational and Physical Therapy services. Her recovery took time, but she was able to make remarkable progress. Covid-19 left her weak, short of breath, and unable to complete her daily tasks without assistance and reduced ability to walk. Grace’s overall goal was to get strong enough so she can hold her new great granddaughters.
After working with our team, she can now walk with a walker with good oxygen saturation and improved endurance. She is also able to complete all self-care tasks with set up assistance. More importantly, she is now strong enough to hold and enjoy her great granddaughters when they come in to visit her.
